is it possible for someone to regain her color when she disposed of all the colors in the world?
-
she went back and presented herself with a bow. they were first amazed at her scarred surface but they dismissed feelings for they realized that colors are not able to be lesser than they really are. They did not believe that her change is probable. They did not believe that they can change.
"go hide in the dark, there you'd have a place where you'll be accepted."
"what do I have to do to be here?" she pleaded.
"Nothing. You're you."
So she removed her tag, turned her back, and went into the darkness. It was a long tiring journey, and while traversing that dangerous path, she felt crestfallen. It felt as if she lost all that she is. She felt like wasn't belonging to anything, that her existence, and whatever she possesses will always be either lacking or excessive.
She was alone in that cold forsaken land. Perhaps this is why colors are packed in a box, sold as a group. It was scary to be alone but at the same time, she never felt judged. She belonged but also did not.
there is a place, not far from here, where instead of humans in their vulnerable bodies lived, thousand of colors breathe. Each has a unique tint, some very similar to others that our mundane perception would not be able to recognize.
There is one color, that is always have been set apart from the others, they said that she is too dull to fit the rainbows, but also too bright for the eyes. she was different, the kind of different that most only loved at first sight. they reject her afterward and blame her for something that she had no power over. but you see, she has always dreamed of holding another color in order to create more hues. shades that have never set foot in their world, never been discovered. shades that would comfort and inspire even the loneliest artists.
she persisted and saturated her color a little just so she could be the eighth. Most, if not all, admires the rainbow because it signifies a promise and a hope that their place would be free from the monochromatic life that they have escaped from. Maybe once she becomes one, they would look at her not with a frown on their faces, but an approval plastered on their vividness.
"you're too much," they told her while they squinted. one held a hand at her, telling her to stop coming closer. one shut the door, and another walked away. their hearts felt heavy, it was as if she brought all the light that the sun could offer but also the shadows of the night. she felt like a burden still, continuously gaining weight.
so she scrubbed herself a little.
and a little more.
and a little bit more.
they thought it was impossible for someone like her to get scathed. she looked as if suffering is merely dust she shakes off. she was too much, that becoming too little is a far-fetched idea that will never be a reality. but it did.

Years and years of existing, there in the darkness where she is not invisible but also unseen. Finally sh got tired. What is the use of being a color, when she is put inside a pitch black?
She was evil, they said,
So she took all the colors in the world and ate them.
